Tractor Hydraulic Fluid

Container of 303 THF

Tractor Supply Company and Smitty’s Supply, Inc. are settling a Missouri class action based on their sales of S SuperTrac 303 Tractor Hydraulic Fluid (THF). The complaint alleged that no real 303-type THF exists at this time and that what was sold as 303 was an inferior product that could damage equipment.

The complaint for this class action alleges that specifications for 303 tractor hydraulic fluid (THF) no longer exist, and that current 303 THF products may even be harmful to equipment. Why don’t specifications exist? The original 303 product contained sperm whale oil, which may no longer be used. The defendants are Smitty’s Supply, Inc. and Tractor Supply Company.

The complaint for this class action alleges that Smitty’s Supply, Inc. and Rural King sell “303” tractor hydraulic fluid (THF) which purportedly meets 303 specifications. What’s wrong with that? The complaint claims that 303 specifications have not been available for over forty years and that that type of fluid is outdated.

This class action concerns tractor hydraulic fluid made by CITGO Petroleum Corporation and Orscheln Farm and Home, LLC. The complaint alleges that the products were advertised as being “universal” and “general purpose” and that those terms implied that the fluid was safe and effective, when in fact it was nothing of the kind.
