Settlement Structure:
Case Summary:

Ford has agreed to settle three class actions alleging that its PowerShift Dual-Clutch Automatic (DPS6) Transmissions are defectively designed, affecting certain 2011-2016 Ford Fiesta and 2012-2016 Ford Focus vehicles. The complaints for the class actions claim that defects cause the cars to slip, buck, kick, or jerk, resulting in a sudden or delayed acceleration.

Benefits are delineated in five settlement areas:

  • Cash payments or vehicle purchase discount for three or more visits for transmission hardware replacements
  • Cash payments for three or more software flashes
  • Vehicle repurchase or replcement
  • Compensation for warranty repairs
  • Replacement clutch, reimbursement, and extended warranty for vehicles manufactured after June 5, 2013
