All Nippon Airways Plane at Jetway

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Air Lines (JAL) are the final parties to settle in an antitrust class action about price-fixing and fuel surcharges on flights across the Pacific originating in the US. The complaint claimed that ANA and JAL agreed to fix prices on tickets and add fuel surcharges for travel between the US and Japan.

Craft Brew Alliance, Inc. (CBA) is settling a class action alleging it gave consumers the impression that its Kona Brewing Company Beer was brewed in Hawaii. The complaint claimed that the beer was deceptively advertised, because it is brewed in the continental US. 

2016 Ford Fiesta

Ford is offering vouchers or cash payments to settle a class action alleging that certain of its Focus and Fiesta vehicles have a defective PowerShift Dual-Clutch Automatic (DPS6) transmission. The complaint claimed that the transmission may slip, buck, kick, or jerk and cause sudden or delayed acceleration.

TD Bank Branch

The Toronto Dominion Bank, also known as TD Bank, is paying over half a million dollars to resolve a class action alleging that it breached agreements with customers. According to the complaint, the coin-counting machines in its retail branches did not accurately count coins deposited by customers.

PTZ Insurance Agency, Ltd. and Pethealth are paying $5.5 million to settle a class action alleging the companies violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). The complaint alleged that the companies placed unwanted calls to consumer cell phones to remind consumers of a thirty-day gift of insurance.

FoodState is putting aside over $2 million to settle a class action concerning its MegaFoods and Innate Response Formula vitamin supplement brands. The complaint alleged that the labeling, packaging, and websites for the vitamins were misleading and violated consumer protection laws.

The retailer New York & Company is settling a class action involving both its retail stores and its outlets. The complaint alleged that both retail stores and outlets advertised false discounts on merchandise.

National Holdings Corporation is paying $325,000 to settle a class action about unwanted telemarketing calls. The complaint alleged the company violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) by calling residential numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry.

Samsung Electronics Canada, Inc. (SECA) is settling a class action about supposed defects in top-loading Samsung and Kenmore top-loading washers that were voluntarily recalled on October 4, 2016. The complaint alleged that the top’s fasteners can detach during operation.

CVS Algal-900 DHA

CVS is settling a class action over its Algal-900 DHA supplement containing docosahexaenoic acid algal oil. The complaint alleged that the product was misrepresented as being “clinically shown to improve memory” or creating “clinically shown memory improvement” on its label or package.
