Branch of Bethpage Federal Credit Union

This class action is one of a number of recent ones taking issue with the practice of imposing multiple non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees on a single transaction. The complaint claims that Bethpage Federal Credit Union violates its own account agreements by doing so.

2019 Toyota Corolla

When a modern vehicle is in a crash, the seatbelts lock in place and the air bags deploy. If these two things fail to happen, the vehicle’s passengers don’t have the full advantage of the seatbelts or any advantage from the air bags. The complaint for this class action alleges that that’s exactly what’s happening with vehicles from Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. due to defective airbag control units (ACUs) from ZF TRW Automotive Holdings Corp.

Cell Phone in Circle with Strikethrough

Telemarketing may be one of the least popular things on the planet. Still, someone must be making money from it, because companies still seem bent on doing it, even though the people they purportedly want to turn into customers usually hate it. The complaint for this class action alleges that Peterson’s Harley-Davidson South, LLC sent telemarketing text messages to consumer cell phones without permission, thus violating the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

GameStop Logo over Background of Racks of Games

GameStop Corp. and GameStop, Inc. do business online and in brick-and-mortar stores, selling video games and gaming products. The complaint alleges that the company sometimes did not deliver products and did not provide customers with refunds as promised. It claims that those failures amount to unfair business practices, conversion, and breaches of contract, among other things.

2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

Wheels on some models of Chevrolet Corvettes are defective, claims the complaint for this class action. The wheels—that is, the rims—warp, bend, or crack, after which they have to be repaired or replaced. The complaint brings suit against General Motors, LLC, saying that the company knows about the problem but has not solved it or warned consumers about it.

Johnson & Johnson Talcum Powder Products

According to the complaint for this class action, Johnson & Johnson, Inc., Valeant Pharmaceuticals, LLC, and Johnson & Johnson Consumer, Inc. have claimed for years that their talcum products don’t contain any asbestos or asbestiform fibers. The complaint alleges that this is false, and brings suit under California laws, including its Proposition 65, which says that “businesses must provide persons with a ‘clear and reasonable warning’ before exposing individuals to chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer.”

Vineyard Vines Tee Shirt with Whale Logo

The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) was passed as a measure against identity theft. Although the law was passed many years ago, and although identity theft is a growing problem, it seems some retailers have not yet updated their equipment to comply. The complaint for this class action alleges that Vineyard Vines Retail, LLC, violates FACTA by printing too much personal information on its receipts.

2019 Dodge Ram

We expect gas station stops to go fairly quickly—just enough time to fill the tank, on our way to somewhere else. But the complaint for this class action says that your stop might be a lot longer if you have a Dodge Ram, made by FCA US, LLC. It alleges that the fuel tank filler necks are too steeply angled, so that gas nozzles can get stuck in them, forcing motorists to summon help.

Container of Friendly's Vanilla Ice Cream

Is your favorite vanilla ice cream really flavored with vanilla? This is one of a number of class actions alleging that ice cream companies are fudging on vanilla—not flavoring with real vanilla, but manipulating wording on packaging to suggest that they are. At issue in this case are vanilla ice creams used in a variety of products from Friendly’s Manufacturing and Retail, LLC.

Branch of Liberty Bank

Plaintiff Mary Quirk says she has paid $2,000 in overdraft (OD) fees to Liberty Bank in 2018. This is because, the complaint for this class action says, Liberty charges OD fees on items that do not actually overdraw customer accounts.
